Ssezibwa waterfalls is one of the best refreshing places for relaxation on a beautiful weekend with your family or friends for its located near Kampala the capital city of Uganda. It offers a serene and cool atmosphere yet very cost friendly as compared to other Uganda’s destinations. When going to Jinja to visit the source of the Nile or whitewater or visiting the Eastern Districts Ssezibwa falls is a must stop over point.
It is 32 kilometers from Kampala capital city along Kampala-Jinja high way in Mukono District. The falls are formed as a result of water squeezing through tiny opening through the rocks and dropping 17 meters into a large pool which is about 14 meters deep at high speed. Its name; Ssezibwa is a local idiom meaning “something that is endless and unstoppable”.
The falls are considered as an important cultural and spiritual site for the Buganda kingdom and there are some rituals which are done from the place while crowning a king in the Buganda kingdom.
After your breakfast you will meet a driver guide from Jungle Trekkers for briefing concerning your tour and then set off to explore the amazing Ssezibwa Falls. This drive will take you aproximently 45 minutes from Kampala to the soothing spiritual Ssezibwa Falls along Kampala-Jinja high way. Upon arrival at Ssezibwa falls, you will be gladly welcomed by the local site guide who will lead you through the detailed back ground of the place and its importance to the Buganda Kingdom. Still, you will go to explore the falls that is believed to have been born by a woman and so, many locals go there to seek for blessings. Your guide will tell you all the information about this place. After encountering the Ssezibwa falls, you will drive to Mukono town for refreshments, lunch and drive to Mabira forest reserve for a guided forest walk. Mabira rainforest is the biggest forest found in the central region of Uganda. After Mabira rainforest walk, return to your hotel/residence in Kampala or Entebbe
